چکیده
LACRIMATORS are compounds which, in gaseous form in extremely small concentrations, act as conjunctival irritants. Chemically, almost all are halogenized organic substances. Because of a loose mesomer connexion the halogen atom is very reactive. Duke-Elder (1954) listed more than ten liquid or solid tear producers. Chloracetophenon (Fig. 1) has been that most frequently used for many years, and is at present the cause of practically all tear-gas injuries. H

Vascular Injuries Caused by Tear Gas Shells: Surgical Challenge and Outcome
Dec 2009 were studied. Patients with vascular injuries caused by causes other than tear gas shells were excluded from the study. Results: All patients were treated with reverse saphenous vein graft as segmental loss was less than 2.5 cm. Wound infection was the most common complication, followed by graft occlu-sion. Amputation rate was 16.66%. Associated nerve injury occurred in 44.44% ...

Investigating the Challenges and Consequences of Ammonia Gas Emission Caused by the Explosion in Firuzabad Sodium Carbonate Factory in Iran With Health Care Approach in 2022: A Case Study
Background: An ammonia gas explosion poses immediate health hazards such as respiratory tract burns, skin and eye irritation, and potential death within seconds. It also causes long-term negative impacts on biodiversity, affecting aquatic life and vegetation. An explosion in the Firuzabad sodium carbonate factory in Iran led to massive ammonia gas leakage and the poisoning of several employees....

OBJECTIVE This study aims to explore the ocular surface of late stage eye burns by impression cytology (IC) and analyze the cytological changes and their relationship to ocular surface abnormalities. PATIENTS AND METHODS 68 eyes with late stage eye burns (thermal burn: 28 eyes; alkali burn: 26 eyes; acid burn: 14 eyes), procured from 68 patients (aged ranges from 17 to 70 years old). Ocular s...
متن کاملTransient receptor potential ankyrin 1 antagonists block the noxious effects of toxic industrial isocyanates and tear gases.
The release of methyl isocyanate in Bhopal, India, caused the worst industrial accident in history. Exposures to industrial isocyanates induce lacrimation, pain, airway irritation, and edema. Similar responses are elicited by chemicals used as tear gases. Despite frequent exposures, the biological targets of isocyanates and tear gases in vivo have not been identified, precluding the development...
